Who needs a door anyway?

Yesterday was Children's day. the school used Friday to celebrate this so they moved the interest lessons from Saturday to Friday. It was Izzie's turn but since she was at Huang Qi, I took them. After that I only had one lesson as P3 practically shooed me out of the classroom. They could have told me in advance not to come; I planned a lesson!
We went out for dinner before heading to our tutoring. One of my girls got herself extremely worked up and upset, because she thinks you have to be loud for the teacher to like you. Bless her, I cheered her up with some photos. They very much enjoyed passing judgement on Izzie's friends. Afterwards Izzie was telling their mother how I eat like a bin. Her response "but she's so thin!" was soon followed by the insight " you don't like her for this" sweet.
We returned to our rooms and got ready to go out and celebrate Mike's birthday and Zoe's leaving party. It was a fun night with much posing in a dark bar in sunglasses, because yes, we are that cool. We didn't come home too late, yet I stayed up to read a magazine (my logic there is lost on me) and as a result I eventually got out of bed just before 3pm just as Izzie was knocking on my door to tell me she was off to the middle school. I felt incredibly lazy. I walked to Walmart and back in the rain. I wouldn't have walked back except the motorbike man laughed at me attempting to carry my bags and hold an umbrella so I wasn't going to give him my business!
I think that completely sums up Saturday actually, it was a very lazy, boring kind of day. Yesterday was much more interesting. We met up with some students from the middle school who took us somewhere very retro, a roller disco. Not an ice rink or even roller blades, oh no, roller skates, with the wheels in a square. It was fun though. We spent a great deal of time trying to each 2 of the girls how to skate. Then we made a chain thinking it might help them if they were half being pulled, half pushed, keep them steady. It was carnage with all 7 of us ending in  a heap. We weren't the only ones. Their skating is about as safe as their driving so there were plenty of collisions, especially with the ones skating backwards in chains.
We came home rather tired and sweaty, but with a craving for pizza. After de-smelling, Izzie and I went to Pizza hut, which was extremely busy. We joined the waiting list and they said they would ring us when our table was ready so we mooched off and ended up in McDonalds with some chips to tide us over. They rang us and we went back over to see some familiar faces at the front of the queue - Jamie, fellow foshan resident, sam, former TTC intern, and Sam's girlfriend. Ok well she wasn't a familar face, but we managed to get them on our table so there was a nice little group of us for dinner exchanging stories and news.
Oh I forgot! In between coming home and going out again, Izzie locked her key in her room (again) after discussing the options with the chinese teachers they opted for choice z) in anybody else's book, break down the door. Michelle did the honours ( a tiny, sweet woman) with one kick, a final nudge from me and the door was open. The lock was completely destroyed so there was no more need for a key! Izzie is procrastinating telling Vicky she needs Mr. Fix-it man to come and repair her door. Oh the drama!
